Creating Polite and Obedient Dogs!
Lisa Smith has been training dogs professionally for 23 years. She has always had a love for dogs and worked in animal shelters and veterinary clinics before becoming a trainer. Her first training experience was in high school when she adopted a pit bull mix and her parents insisted he be trained, considering his breed.
Lisa grew up in the Dallas, TX area and earned a BA in psychology from Dallas Baptist University.
14 years ago Lisa and her family made Ozark, MO their home. She lives with husband Dale of 25 years, daughter and 3 fur kids: Thomas an 11 year old Cavailier King Charles Spaniel, Piper a 5 year old pomeranian mix and newest addition, Brodie a 6 month old Goldendoodle.
Lisa says, "To me, dogs arenít just pets, they are family. Thatís why I specialize in Pet Dog Training that uses gentle yet firm, proven techniques. I know my part in helping dogs become polite and obedient means they will be enjoyed more by the community and will have a much better chance of staying in their homes for their lifetimes. So whether you want to know how to train a puppy or how to train an adult dog, I can help.
Even though I have 23 years of dog training experience, I understand the importance of continuing education. I freely admit there is always something new to learn, new ways to helps guardians and their dogs. Working with dogs is where God has gifted me and I find it a joy!"
A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal Proverbs 12:10.
I spent most of my childhood on a small farm just out Ozark Missouri. Growing up on a farm gave me opportunity to be around and to work with different animals including dogs. I married husband Emerel in 1997 and have continued to live around the Ozark/ Sparta area.
We got our first American Eskimo "Tessa Lee" in 2001 and our first sheltie "Madison Lou" in 2002. We have learned a lot about both breeds through our experiences and made our share of mistakes along the way. In 2012 we got our second American Eskimo "Snowball" and decide it was time to educate ourselves further. In the fall of 2012 I took a Level 1 training class with "Snowball" and before I knew it, I was hooked on dog training. Since that time, "Snowball" has earned her CGC, Novice Trick Title, is a certified pet therapy dog through Pet Therapy of the Ozarks and participates in Barn Hunt. We have also added two more fur kids: "Molly" a Belgian Tervuren and "Kyla Jo" a Bi-Black Sheltie.
